As a guitar enthusiast, I'm always looking for some new songs to add to my arsenal as I play exclusively for hobby and often times run into the trap of getting bored of playing the same things over again.I've been teaching myself fingerstyle technique and found that this song book was a great mix of beginner and moderate skill songs that exercise all different kinds of celtic fingerstyle techniques. It's not meant for teaching technique specifically, but I did find the songs helped to reinforce the skills I've been working on (hammer-on, bends, right-hand control and position).None of the songs are extremely long, so if you invest the time you'll find in the end you can learn a lot of catchy folks songs and have a lot of fun in the process.

Really beautiful melodies. The tab are all there. There are no songs in "drop D". I have been playing for almost a year now, teaching myself. I am able to play most of the songs which are moderately challenging for me. I'm not saying I have mastered them, but I guess what I am trying to say is there are written so you could memorize them with a little practice. I have been collecting the fingerpicking series and this is one of my favorites so far. I especially like the song Wild Mountain Thyme, it's a really pretty song

These are very basic arrangements, with little challenge - OK for beginners - it's a pity that "Beginner" or "Easy" was not included in the title. The book includes the original melody lines and lyrics, with the guitar arrangement in standard notation and tab underneath. There are no chord substitutions, just the original chords and melody; the bass lines are very weak.

I was hoping for more complex arrangements but the song choices are really good and these are very useful for my intermediate students.

This is a small book and it looks as if the printer stretched the contents to fill a few more pages. The music is fine but it desperately needs some explanatory narrative. After an initial one page introduction to the fingers of both hands, it leaves the buyer to his own interpretation. I had to figure out that apparently the book is written for a singer on the first set of Treble Scale notes and the guitar using the second set. I had to look on the Internet to find out what 'Tablature' is, but I will chalk that down to my own ignorance. There are better books on the market with much more content.

It has relatively simple arrangements but perfect for the average player who doesn't need anything to fancy or difficult.

Great book--my students are enjoying it. Just right for intermediate guitar students.

It has a good collection of songs. I would say it's for advanced beginner-intermediate levels. You'll really enjoy the book!
