About the Author

Thomas Lockwood is the co-author and editor of four books: Design Thinking (2010), The Handbook of Design Management (2011), Corporate Creativity (2008) and Building Design Strategy (2007). I have read a few of the mainstream books on design thinking. Without exception I've found them to portray a shallow rearrangement of common sense and common techniques as a revolution of sorts. This is the first book I've found that invites the reader to transform their basic concept of imagining, developing and launching a new product. It's ironic that the author states in the forward that when he was asked to create a book on design thinking, his first question was "Hasn't that already been done?" Thomas Lockwood has succeeded in doing for innovative thinkers what the authors of all the other books failed at: He provides a cogent thought-scape that allows products to exceed the baseless fairy tale beginnings in the imaginations of innovators, and to disrupt and transform their target markets, even blossoming in markets not yet imagined when the spark of their existence came to life in the minds of their creators.The book provides a living landscape for innovators. It's up to us to understand and respect the tenets set forth on the book, and leverage them in our attempts to make the world a better place. Because we're working with a living landscape, we should also dedicate ourselves to nurturing and enhancing the concepts presented, and to mentoring others in their use.

I liked the book but the fact it is a collection of articles by several authors is good and bad. It is good because allows the reader to get in touch with different points of view. And it is bad because articles vary in quality and relevance. all in all, i recommend it to all who want to better understand how design evolved and gained relevance in the business world.

This was written in 1997...was hoping for a newer version or more current up date of this business trend.

After reading many other books that touch on the design thinking concept; here is a book that provides a wealth of in depth information that examines design thinking from a number of perspectives. In my company we need to be both attune to our client's approach to design and integrating ourselves into their process while maintaining our own design disciplines internally. This book provides insights to these sorts of design challenges as well as more traditional ones such as building a design thinking process and the culture of design in a company. Great information and interesting to read as well. Very much enjoyed it.

About the Author

Joel J. Lerner was a professor and the chairman of the business division at Sullivan County Community College. He presently is a member of the Board of Trustees of that institution. James A. Cashin was Emeritus Professor of Accounting at Hofstra University, where he was formerly Chairman of the Accounting Department. He was a coauthor of several accounting books, including Schaum's Outline of Principles of Accounting II, Schaum's Outline of Cost Accounting, and he was editor in chief of the Handbook for Auditors. Professor Cashin was a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Internal Auditor. He held a B.S. degree in accounting from the University of Georgia and an M.B.A. from New York University. I like it. It has plenty of practice problems and helps to explain everything so that it is easy to understand. I had to give 4 stars only because it gives the solutions right under the problem. I like the solutions, but they could have put them in the back of the book.

I bought this book when I was taking Accounting II. Schaum's books are practical, with great examples. Any time you have a problem in any subject, I recommend Schaum's. I used them in undergraduate school. They may have different writers but the flavor of the writing is always the same. I recommend them to students all the time. I have never been disappointed.

This book covers Accounting 101 completely. No text book needed. Covers debits and credits, financial statements, everything Accounting 101 covers. Highly recommend this book

My accounting textbook for my college Accounting I class isn't the greatest and doesn't have that many example problems. I'm a visual learner so seeing the problems and their solution is extremely helpful. Like someone else stated in their review, it won't replace your current accounting textbook but is it a perfect addition if you are also a visual learner, or want to practice problems and see the solutions, since my current book doesn't show solutions (only instructor's copy does).

A phenomenal book for learning the basics of accounting. What really made me enjoy this book were the practice sections. Other accounting books describe how to do accounting, but this describes the process as well as allows you to practice what you learn. If you are going into accounting, this book is a must!

The Schaum's guides comprise a collection of solved problems in principles of accounting. Students often find it difficult to make the connection between problems illustrated in a textbook and the homework problems at the end of the chapter. This book shows sample problems, immediately followed with step-by-step annotated answers.

Peter Pan; or, the Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up or Peter and Wendy is J. M. Barrie's most famous work, in the form of a 1904 play and a 1911 novel. Both versions tell the story of Peter Pan, a mischievous little boy who can fly, and his adventures on the island of Neverland with Wendy Darling and her brothers, the fairy Tinker Bell, the Lost Boys, and the pirate Captain Hook. The play and novel were inspired by Barrie's friendship with the Llewelyn Davies family. Barrie continued to revise the play for years after its debut until publication of the play script in 1928.

The play debuted in London on 27 December 1904 with Nina Boucicault, daughter of playwright Dion Boucicault, in the title role. A Broadway production was mounted in 1905 starring Maude Adams. It was later revived with such actresses as Marilyn Miller and Eva Le Gallienne. The play has since been adapted as a pantomime, stage musical, a television special, and several films, including a 1924 silent film, Disney's 1953 animated full-length feature film, and a 2003 live action production. The play is now rarely performed in its original form on stage in the United Kingdom, whereas pantomime adaptations are frequently staged around Christmas. In the U.S., the original version has also been supplanted in popularity by the 1954 musical version, which became popular on television.

The novel was first published in 1911 by Hodder & Stoughton in the United Kingdom and Charles Scribner's Sons in the United States. The original book contains a frontispiece and 11 half-tone plates by artist F. D. Bedford (whose illustrations are still under copyright in the EU). The novel was first abridged by May Byron in 1915, with Barrie's permission, and published under the title Peter Pan and Wendy, the first time this form was used. This version was later illustrated by Mabel Lucie Attwell in 1921. In 1929, Barrie gave the copyright of the Peter Pan works to Great Ormond Street Hospital, a children's hospital in London.

"All children, except one, grow up." Thus begins a great classic of children's literature that we all remember as magical. What we tend to forget, because the tale of Peter Pan and Neverland has been so relentlessly boiled down, hashed up, and coated in saccharine, is that J.M. Barrie's original version is also witty, sophisticated, and delightfully odd. The Darling children, Wendy, John, and Michael, live a very proper middle-class life in Edwardian London, but they also happen to have a Newfoundland for a nurse. The text is full of such throwaway gems as "Mrs. Darling first heard of Peter Pan when she was tidying up her children's minds," and is peppered with deliberately obscure vocabulary including "embonpoint," "quietus," and "pluperfect." Lest we forget, it was written in 1904, a relatively innocent age in which a plot about abducted children must have seemed more safely fanciful. Also, perhaps, it was an age that expected more of its children's books, for Peter Pan has a suppleness, lightness, and intelligence that are "literary" in the best sense. In a typical exchange with the dastardly Captain Hook, Peter Pan descibes himself as "youth... joy... a little bird that has broken out of the egg," and the author interjects: "This, of course, was nonsense; but it was proof to the unhappy Hook that Peter did not know in the least who or what he was, which is the very pinnacle of good form." Four movable pictures (the sort that rotate to dissolve from one scene to another), plus a scattering of tiny, hard-to-find flaps, accompany an incoherently abridged text. The slightly antique-looking art is crudely executed; small figures with distorted or indistinct features change relative sizes from spread to spread, and are placed, in most scenes, with no discernible logic. Stick with the original, available in several handsome editions, or if you must have an abridgment, go for the book/cassette package illustrated by Diane Goode, read by Lynn Redgrave, and adapted by Josette Frank (Random, 1987).

Fantastic and engrossing material. Very well researched and accessible. I've read a ton of material similar in subject matter, painfully long books to internet articles, this book is just long enough and brings so many pieces of the puzzle together.There are other reviews on here that claim that the author ripped material from other people - this idea is ridiculous - I don't think these people realize that those of us in the science community build on top of others' material, that's how it works, we wouldn't have modern medicine, technology, biological or cultural anthropology, engineering etc. without this STANDARD practice. There is zero evidence for plagiarism here and the sources are cited to excess, like "holy crap that's a lot of citing."It is obvious that Mr. Sepehr has spent a great deal of time, energy, and resources on his study of these subjects as well as bringing this to public awareness. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more of his work.

I really like what he is talking about, very interesting perspective on the origin of civilization.but the book lacks focus and goes all over the place. he needs to calm down and focus more on each subject that he presents in the book.or hire a editor :)

I found this book a little slow and technical in the beginning; however it was great reading for the rest of the book
