If you're looking for a how-to, this book isn't it. It's a couple of techies trying to impress people with their technical knowledge--typical IT doublespeak. It's illogically set up, repetitious, not well-written and only tells you what the program does, not how to use it.

I have been a fan of "dummies" books since the beginning and own many titles. The bottom line is that if this book were a ham sandwich, you would need a microscope to find the Ham! It lacks depth and does not give you much of anything that you would need to get a basic SharePoint site up an running.

It is probably a decent book for SharePoint 2016, but apparently I have SharePoint online and was too naive to know there was a difference. I don't think the description told me what to look for when looking for help.

Was really hoping there would have been a bigger section on SharePoint with Office 365 but over all a great bi of knowledge on SharePoint.

Was not impressed with the level of writing, the repetition, the lack of a logical order of concepts, and the very small, unusable images in the Kindle version. No thank you.

This book is helping me understand my role in my organization as a SharePoint administrator even better. As a long time fan off the For Dummies book. I found it to be an informative read and would recommend it to anyone new to SharePoint.

Wasn't until recently that I tried one of these "for dummies" books. These books really do help me pick up the basics needed when first learning a new subject. This book helped my contributions and involvement with a SharePoint project I was thrown into.

Very helpful for the beginner. However SharePoint is always evolving.

About the Author
Mark Raymond Harrington (1882-1971) was one of the pioneers in Cuban Archaeology at the beginning of the twentieth century in a country in which anthropological science began to develop. His studies and findings allowed the development of archaeological studies on the island.At the request of Mr. George G. Heye, director of American Indian´s Museum, Harrington went to Cuba on February 1915 with the mission in mind to continue the archeological explorations that Teodoro de Booy left inconclusive.This was the first scientific attempt to study in detail Cuba's first inhabitants and as a result widening of the Cuban archeological register. His main destination was the easternmost Cuban municipality, in the province of Guantánamo, called Baracoa. At one of the sites, he found stone and clay artifacts. Betwen 1918 to 1919, he explored some caves in the Guantánamo area. His explorations led to him to publish his notes and findings in a work entitled: Cuba Before Columbus (1921), published in New York by the Heye Foundation and the Museum of the American Indian. This work was intended to be a two part series of al least three volumes. However, Harrington just published Part I, volumes 1 and 2. In 1935, this work was translated by the Cuban scholars Antonio Mestre and Fernando Ortiz into the spanish language. The controlled and well registered extensive excavations carried out by Harrington in several locations in Cuba where he collected materials such as seashells, stone and clay items able him to stablished a chronology and to determine the cultural stages of Cuba's aboriginal population. This chronology is used up to the present. Today, Cuba Before Columbus is an obligatory references for those scholars interested in Cuba prehistory. Dr. Angel Rodriguez, Editor. About the Author
Lisa Hoeffner earned a PhD in English with a specialization in rhetoric from the University of Houston. She has taught a wide range of courses over the past twenty-five years, including English composition and rhetoric, reading, critical thinking, American and British literature, world literature, humanities, and business writing. Since 1998, Dr. Hoeffner has served in two positions-professor of English and professor of reading-at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas.

In addition to her teaching role, Dr. Hoeffner is focusing on curricular redesign in developmental education. She serves as grant director for a Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board grant awarded for work on improvement and innovation in developmental education. With the advent of integrated reading and writing in Texas, she has provided leadership for colleges and universities across the state that are creating integrated reading and writing (INRW) programs. She has designed and led training workshops and webinars to prepare faculty to teach INRW and to help institutions create INRW programs. She has also provided leadership to public school districts implementing INRW programs as college preparatory classes.

Dr. Hoeffner has a passion for teaching and for innovative technologies. She designed and taught her first online freshman composition class in 1999 and has since developed and taught online courses for developmental students. She is thrilled that she is able to bring both passions to bear in her development of Common Places and the Connect IRW: Common Places Master Course.

Dr. Hoeffner is a recipient of several awards, including the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Award. She has written and published scholarly articles and poetry, and she has presented her work in developmental education nationally. A native Texan, Dr. Hoeffner enjoys exploring the flora and fauna of regional ecosystems, cooking, and dreaming about living off the grid.

Kent Hoeffner earned a BA from Texas A&M University in College Station, and MDiv from Golden State Seminary in Mill Valley, California, and a PhD from Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Before working in higher education, Dr. Hoeffner was employed in the mental health field, working primarily with adolescents with social and emotional difficulties. During that time, he also taught adult basic education and GED prepartation classes.

Dr. Hoeffner has served at McLennan Community College since 2001, first as the division director for liberal arts and currently as a professor of philosophy. In addition to teaching introductory courses in philosophy, he has also taught and developed courses in critical thinking and logic. In 2007, he developed McLennan's first online philosophy course, and since then he has continued to develope and teach various online courses.

Recently, Dr. Hoeffner renewed his long-standing involvement in academic advising by joining a group of faculty in a grant-funded intensive advising program focused on improving the success of developmental students. He regularly mentors students who need help in the areas of successful academic behaviors, self-advocacy, and the development of college-level reading and writing skills.

His background in foreign languages and logic contributed to his talents for creating the sentence-combining and grammar units in Common Places, and his expertise in teaching critical thinking and in student mentoring has helped to shape the text. When he is not teaching, advising, or writing, Dr. Hoeffner following the Dallas Cowboys, reading and traveling.
